About the Race

The Ultimate Trail Experience

The Tsitsikamma Ultra is a challenging 50km trail run that takes you through some of South Africa's most spectacular indigenous forests, coastal paths, and mountain trails. This is not just a race, it's an adventure that will test your limits while showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Garden Route.

Starting at Storms River Petroport, the route winds through ancient forests, crosses streams, and offers stunning mountain vistas before finishing at Covie. With a total elevation gain of 2,500m, this ultra demands respect, preparation, and determination.

Frequently Asked Questions

The official cut-off time is 12 hours from the start. There is an intermediate cut-off at Keurbos (12:00) to ensure runner safety and race logistics.

The route includes single track trails, coastal paths, forests, stream crossings, and some road sections. Expect technical terrain with roots, rocks, and varying surface conditions.

There are 2 fully stocked aid stations positioned at the 29km and 40km mark. Each provides water, Drink Mix (GU), Bananas. Oranges, Snacks and Race Nutrition (GU). Basic first aid supplies.

Additional water is available from natural mountain sources. Runners are advised to carry a filter or purification tablets if they plan to use them.

A shuttle service will be available from Covie to the start in Stormsriver. Bookings for the Shuttle Service must be made in advance with your race entry on the ticket platform (Add On).
Parking: Available at the Finish area in Covie.
Toilets: Located at the start, aid station 1, aid station 2 & the finish.

Entry includes: All conservation and forestry permits, Running Shirt (Tsitsikamma 2026), Refreshment & Burger at the finish line

There are plenty of options available in the area on AirBnB, Booking.com, etc. Natures Valley is the closest area to the parking lot/finish line in Covie.
